Knelpunten bij de ontwikkeling en toepassing van microsysteemtechnologie (MST) liggen niet zo zeer op het gebied van de kennis en technologie: Nederland kan qua onderzoek tot de top vijf van de wereld worden gerekend. Wel treedt stagnatie op in de overdracht van onderzoeksresultaten naar de industrie waardoor het vinden van toepassingen belemmerd wordt. De studievariant Fijnmechanische Techniek (FMT) van de Hogeschool van Utrecht heeft zich sinds 1994 intensief bezig gehouden met MST en wil de kloof tussen Universiteiten en bedrijven helpen overbruggen door relevante kennis voor (toekomstige) ontwerpers en productontwikkelaars in bedrijven toegankelijk te maken.

DSPE has taken the initiative to improve the level of knowledge and cooperation in the field of precision engineering in the Netherlands. Based on the demand in the market, the DSPE has developed a roadmap with (existing and to be developed) course material; has set up a curriculum and will assure the level of quality.

The market is changing: multidisciplinary system thinking is a prerequisite; excellent cooperative skills and knowledge in several relevant disciplines is essential. The Joint education effort leads to a common way of working and will facilitate networking among precision engineers, which will elevate the individual knowledge level.

What do we offer?
Focus areas are miniaturisation in the semiconductor and MEMS technology, nanotechnology, applied manufacturing technologies; chemics and biomechanics. We develop your skills in precision of work, tribology, opto-mechatronics, metrology and control, material treatments, thermo-mechanics and dynamics, vacuum technology and contamination control.

Target group
Precision engineers with a bachelor or masters degree and with 2-10 years working experience.

Certification
When successfully completed the postgraduate program you will obtain a certificate. This certificate is an industrial standard for professional recognition and acknowledgement of your Precision Engineering-related knowledge and skills and allows the use of the title Certified Precision Engineer (CPE)
